Ingredients

For the Chicken

3 tbsp. avocado oil

1 ½ lb. boneless & skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1″ chunks

2 tsp. Salt

½ tsp. White pepper powder

¼ tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. arrowroot starch

1 tbsp. avocado oil

1 ½ tbsp. Toasted sesame oil

½ tsp. red chili pepper flakes

1 ½ tbsp. minced garlic

For the Sauce

½ cup coconut aminos

5 tbsp. coconut sugar

1 tbsp. tomato paste

3 tbsp. rice wine vinegar

3 tsp. sesame oil

1 tbsp. sesame seeds

1 tbsp. corn starch

2 tbsp. water

Paleo Sesame Chicken Preparation

  1. Place a large sauté pan over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Once the pan is hot, add 3 tbsp. of avocado oil and let it heat up for 1 minute.
  2. Transfer the chicken to a bowl and season with salt, white pepper powder, onion powder, and arrowroot starch. Drizzle 1 tbsp. of oil on top and mix well to coat the chicken evenly.
  3. Add the chicken to a hot sauté pan in a single layer, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until the color turns golden brown, do not forget to flip halfway through. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan using a slotted spoon and transfer it to a plate.

For the Sauce

  • To prepare sauce, add coconut aminos, coconut sugar, tomato paste, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, and sesame seeds in a bowl, and mix until. Mix arrowroot starch and water in a separate bowl to make the slurry. Set both bowls aside.
  • In the pan over medium-low heat, add 1 ½ tbsp. of sesame oil, red chili pepper flakes, and garlic, stir for 1 minute while frequently scraping the bottom of the pan. Pour half of the prepared sauce and continue cooking while frequently scraping the bottom of the pan for another minute.
  • Return the chicken to the pan, pour the remaining sauce, and gradually pour the cornstarch slurry. Continue to cook for another 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  • Once the sesame chicken is ready, serve it with cauliflower rice and sprinkle sesame seeds. Enjoy!
