About

Hi! I’m Nichole.

Hi, I’m Nichole! I homestead in Illinois (Zone 6b). I have always loved being outdoors. 18 years ago, right after I moved to my family’s homestead in 6th grade, I started my first garden. The garden was small, but I was consistent about planting each year.

After moving to a rural area, I reevaluated my diet. I realized that the Standard American Diet didn’t contribute to our well-being and caused my current health issues.

I have been battling autoimmune diseases for over 29 years. This motivates me to live a clean and healthy life for my family!

Because I had the space. I made a goal to eat vegetables from only my backyard for a year. It completely changed how I ate and cooked. I developed a love for eating foods in their season.

I strive to use natural, wholesome, and organic ingredients whenever possible. My family also enjoys regular fermented foods and homemade bone broth daily.

Our family has embraced a simple homestead lifestyle for over 12 years. We have been growing our food for over 20 years, and living naturally for over 20 years.

This experience motivates me to create a healthier lifestyle for my family and encourages our readers to make small, healthy changes over time.

We work hard when we aren’t busy wrangling little ones like cattle, goats, chickens, or ducks. We build our homestead dreams from scratch.
