Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line your cake pan with parchment paper.
Whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Add the buttermilk, honey, coconut oil, applesauce, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Optional Honey Glaze:
Warm the honey, water, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat until thin and pourable.
Drizzle the warm glaze over the cooled cake.
